First off, I'm shocked at how late I'm posting this! I knew Johanne when I was a kid, and our parents are still close friends; so when she and her fiancé decided after about a year and of half of being engaged (without any solid wedding planning) to put together a simple elopement in the park, our parents got us in touch for me to shoot her special day. She and Dennis were inspired to tie the knot on the 50th anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision of Loving v. the State of Virginia. This decision struck down laws banning interracial marriage.
The ceremony was incredibly intimate, with only the bride and groom's immediate family in attendance in a sweet little nook in Golden Gate Park, followed by a family dinner at the restaurant where they had their first date. These two were so happy and sharing in each other's excitement for the whole day - Dennis even shed a few tears during the ceremony. Even though this was the first time I had seen Johanne in probably fifteen years, I was so happy to be able to share in their special day!
