My boyfriend is the absolute best, and I always want his birthday to be special! This year was a little tricky, since I'd been so busy with job hunting and the stress and worry that comes with it, but I still wanted to do something to make sure Conner felt celebrated.
We started off by having a few close friends over to my apartment for dinner and games the night before his birthday. My friend works at a bakery, and she an I had conspired earlier on to make cupcakes that had some of Conner's tattoos printed on them!
On his actual birthday, after a hearty breakfast, we drove up to Woodside to visit this beautiful place called Filoli Gardens - a huge mansion with an incredible conservatory and beautiful scenery. Then, we visited a car gallery with some incredible vintage and modern collectable and envy-inspiring cars. I know that this was Conner's favorite part of the day, but we weren't done yet.
Conner loves to shop, and wanted to spend a bit of his day up in San Francisco; so we spent a little time at Union Square before setting out for one of the best dinner's I've had in a long time. When I was organizing my sister's bachelorette weekend, I came across a restaurant called Brenda's French Soul Food, and I've been dying to try it ever since.
The decor, the flavors, the combinations - I could NOT get enough. We both absolutely loved it! We split some of their famous crawfish beignets, Conner got a cornbread-battered-shrimp po-boy, and I got sweet potato dumplings with mixed vegetables; everything was delicious. All in all, I was worried that his birthday might have ended up to be a bit of a let down, but everything worked out beautifully!
