Sam and I went to college together at UC Merced. We had so many mutual friends, but she and I only really talked a few times. Regardless, I knew she was an awesome person, and she and I have kept in touch through social media for the past few years. This absolute ANGEL commented on one of my Instagram photos one time that she'd love to put a shoot together sometime, and I jumped at the opportunity! Sam grew up around fashion, including her mom's shop, Andrea's Fashion in Beverly Hills; and started her own bridal boutique a few years ago. She designs her own wide variety of wedding, engagement, and party dresses, and has been featured in multiple magazines, news shows, red carpets, and was even in an episode of Jane the Virgin (she was the one fitting Jane for a wedding gown!)
We decided to shoot at Santa Monica Pier, which was incredibly crowded. I loved the idea of having such sharp contrast between a beautiful girl in a ball gown against the common masses enjoying a sunny day on the pier! We took to the beach for some sunset shots that ended up being some of my favorite ever - especially because I was able to make it look like we had the entire shore to ourselves! With all the people and three outfit changes, I don't know if I would have been able to do the shoot without the help of Conner and Earl, who are the absolute best. The day was overall a total blast, and I would love to work with Sam again soon!
