D + T were actually referred to me by my sister a few years back, and I still think about so many little details from this gorgeous day. Backyard weddings have skyrocketed in popularity since the lockdown in 2020 (I had one myself), and I honestly love how much more intimate and personal than a lot of traditional weddings tend to be!
To this day, the first-look photos from this day are some of my favorites. The couple got married at the groom's parents' house — which had so much character, so many great photo locations, and a killer view. We used the front entryway for their first look, mostly because I was so taken with the charm and the ivy growing on the brick walls.
Another thing I loved is how creative this couple was with their catering! They didn't have a simple buffet or plated meal, but a few different buffet stations that highlighted some of their favorite meals (I remember visiting the macaroni and cheese table more than I probably should have, but the tacos were probably the crowd favorite). And when it came to dessert, who needs a traditional wedding cake?? These two booked a churro truck to serve their guests a variety of flavors; and rather than a standard cake cutting, the couple just shared bites of their churros with each other!
This wedding was also the first and only ceremony that I've seen with two officiants! I love when a couple chooses a friend or family member to officiate their ceremony, so two was twice as nice. Between all that, the intricate guest table with polaroid cameras (before it was a huge trend), the gorgeous sunset, and all of their thoughtful details, this was definitely a day to remember.
